Step Four
Decoration and style.
The possibilities are endless. Perhaps you want to start with a theme, then add personal touches to really make it ‘one-of-a-kind’. Maybe the recipient has a favourite character; from a show or movie they enjoy. Do they love dogs? Play the piano? Work as a nurse? It could be that the whole cake is an elaborate joke… want something rude? Embarrassing? It is up to you! Go crazy!
A few examples of styles
Designed entirely for the purpose of letting an infant or toddler ‘play’ with the cake. Obviously making a mess and providing fun and cute scenes for the rest of the family.
Smothered with your choice of topping allowing it to ‘drip’ down the edges, resulting in a great looking cake finish.
Your choice of cake filled with REAL money. The recipient pulls the protected notes out of the cake before eating.
For a shiny, glossy appearance.
Covered in buttercream, either smooth or rough; offering a great and ‘simple’ design.
Shaped cake in the style of your choosing for that 3D effect.
A few examples of decoration
Modelled chocolate, Krispie treats, fondant or cake-clay.
Your words or pictures done in edible ink.
For an exact image or detail to bring an element of realism.
